About Us

A Little About Me:

From an early age I’ve always been fascinated with the different sounds mother nature had to offer. Some of my earliest attempts at recording thunderstorms were both exciting and frustrating! It was this excitement and frustration that kept me coming back for more… Not knowing anything about mic separation or pickup pattern, SPL or even how temperature and humidity effects the recording, I kept going out and trying to capture the best sounds that I could.

As my knowledge increased so did my desire to capture clean, distortion free sounds. It was this desire that led me to a lifelong ambition to record sounds of all types in highest quality possible. The equipment that I use today is leaps and bounds ahead of my first portable field recorder… a Marantz PDM420. Today I use a Sound Devices SD702 Portable, High-Resolution Audio Recorder and a pair of Sennheiser MKH-8040 Compact Cardioid Condenser Microphones (Matched Set) in a Rycote ORTF Windshield Kit . This setup is probably one of the quietest field recording setups available… and rightfully so as this is the standard setup of true professional field recordist!

This setup allows me to capture sounds so clean and accurate that the equipment itself is no longer a hindrance… but because of this, I now pick up sounds that were once masked by the noise of the mics or recorder. This makes it virtually impossible to capture sounds without the “Hand of Man” involved. No matter where you are in the world there will always be man made sounds that will contaminate the recording. This is why it’s even more important to try and capture these natural sounds now before we loose them forever to noise pollution and lost of habitat.

A Little About My Recordings:

All the recordings that I offer for sale on this site were recorder in it’s natural environment as it happens. None of my recordings have been “Computer Generated” or are short segments looped together. I have traveled to some of the most remote areas of the world to capture my nature sounds, only to find jets flying overhead or a train off in the distance blowing a horn. To remove these sounds would take some serious computer manipulation and destroy the integrally of the recording! Being a purest, you may hear some man-made sounds in the recording…. just like the real world.
